Yesterday marked the wonderful book release of “Capture du Dividende Démographique au Service de l’Émergence: Cas de la Commune de Gueule Tapée-Fass-Colobane.”

It was honored with the presence of Mr. Mabingué Ngom (Regional Director at UNFPA), Mayor Ousmane Ndoye, Ms Safietou DIOP (siguil djiguene) and many other government speakers.

The “Emerging Fass” project matters tremendously as the habitants of Fass are facing challenges of unemployment, overpopulation, high school dropouts rates and juvenile delinquency. This projects aims to facilitate the Fassois’s access to health, education, employment and allow good governance while including the citizens in every step of the process.

In this way, the Fassois’s needs are being addressed with an emphasis on the inclusion and development of youth and women. By involving the government and through the use of control mechanisms adapted to the specific environment, peace, development and human rights are being cultivated.

African renaissance and optimism are the center values of this project, which brings it close with ARDN and its very same goals of African unity. One of the Fass’ project entry point is the promotion of feminine leadership and the inclusion of women in higher education, which is another point where “Emerging Fass” and ARDN meet.

For all these reasons, this project is imperative, inspiring and must be reproduced in other municipalities and countries. UNFPA, the civil society and the Senegalese government clearly have that honorable intention.
